‘Dying to Know’

Queanbeyan and Milton/Ulladulla

It’s a quickly growing movement - communities are coming together to ensure their communities know about death! No.. it’s not morbid at all… it’s about knowing the choices before it’s a rush - and not being regretful for the choices they made for ‘their’ person and themselves.

Getting affairs in order - it was communicated that over a staggering 50% of people in Australia die without a Will! Writing down end-of-life Wishes such as wanting a natural burial and what songs to be played … so the burden is taken away from those who need to organise it.

Most people are surprised that families can keep the body at home for up to 5 days in NSW, with cooling after 8 hours. This might not be everyone’s choice, however a morning or a night can be a really lovely thing to do - to say goodbye.

Queanbeyan hosted a fabulous event on 31st July 2026 - and Walawaani Way presented to the audience about natural and conservation burials. There were other stall holders including Tender Funerals in Canberra, Your Sunset, Earthly Remains and many enthusiastic government agencies to help.

Last weekend, the newly formed group called Milton Ulladulla Districts Compassionate Community hosted a sold-out event with wonderful speakers and stall holders. These were the first “Dying to Know Days” they had held… and they are already planning for next year!

It’s so great to see grass-roots organisations coming together and we are thrilled that Walawaani Way is invited to the conversation.

A wonderful event in Queanbeyan for “Dying to Know Day.”
